Well established printing company is seeking an experienced General Manager to lead manufacturing operations at their central California location. There is a knowledgeable production crew in place and key initiatives include growth, maintaining on time deliveries, process improvement, and waste reduction. This individual will oversee all operations and manufacturing aspects of the facility that includes customer service, estimating, purchasing, scheduling, prepress, printing, finishing, converting, quality, safety/compliance and shipping/receiving. The ideal candidate should be an established leader experienced in the flexo printing of flexible packaging and labels with a solid track record of planning and executing strategies geared toward operational excellence. Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of the local plant and provide leadership and direction to all production departments
- Plan and direct production and manufacturing priorities according to customers’ needs and company best practices
- Hire, lead, coach and train managers and supervisors within a fast-paced environment
- Forecast, plan, organize, and monitor production to achieve maximum productivity, quality, and safety
- Meet or exceed KPI objectives and cost containment goals
- Develop and implement annual operating and capital budgets and hold P&L responsibility
- Work hand in hand with executive management and peers across the organization
- Oversee research and capital improvements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- A minimum of 5 years of plant-wide leadership and manufacturing management experience within a metrics oriented printing facility
- A minimum of 10 years experience with flexible packaging and/or label printing
- A proven track record of supervising a 100+ person team, while reducing costs, and maintaining a high level of safety and quality
- Experience with wide and narrow web flexo printing (MPS, PCMC, W&H, Uteco, F&K, Nilpeter, Mark Andy) and pouching (Sun Centre, Karlville, Totani, Mamata) within a food safe manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of food safety initiatives (cGMP, HACCP, FSC, SFI, FSSC 22000, GFSI, SQF, BRC)
- Proven track record in business and management; emphasizing team leadership, financial and strategic planning, and lean manufacturing
- Ability to coach, mentor, train and inspire commitment
- Previous P&L responsibility
- Strong leadership, communication, and delegation skills
- Lean manufacturing, and Six Sigma experience
- Computer literate and experience with ERP print management dashboards and Microsoft Office
- This is an on-site position located in central California
Salary range: $140,000 – $160,000
