Well established newspaper and commercial printing company located in New England is seeking an experienced Production Director to join their leadership team. Responsibilities will include day to day management of prepress, pressroom, bindery and mailing/distribution areas. Competitive salary and benefits package. 


  • Manage all aspects of production departments including Prepress, Press, Bindery, Mailing, Distribution, and Shipping/Receiving
  • Hire, lead, coach and train team members and supervisors within a fast-paced printing environment
  • Oversee production scheduling and set-up for daily, weekly, and commercial printing
  • Plan, organize and monitor production to achieve maximum productivity and quality while maintaining safety
  • Develop PM schedule and over oversee maintenance for all equipment
  • Participate as part of the senior management team to achieve short and long term goals
  • Be the first point of contact for any new policies and equipment roll outs
  • Define and monitor operational metrics on production output
  • Participate in negotiations for union contracts


  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • A proven track record of supervising at least a 50-person team within a printing facility, while reducing costs, and maintaining a high level of quality and safety
  • 5+ years of "on the floor" management experience preferably with daily newspapers
  • Knowledgeable in offset web presses, bindery equipment: cutters, folders, stitchers, inserters and mailing equipment. Coldset Web/DGM experience preferred
  • Ability to coach, mentor, train and inspire commitment in a union environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer literate with print management software and Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of postal regulations and third-class mail
  • Strong problem solving and electrical/mechanical troubleshooting skills
  • Strong color visual acuity, and color matching skills
