Well established offset web and sheetfed printing company in rural Upstate New York is seeking an experienced Pressroom Technical Supervisor. There is a knowledgeable production crew in place and key initiatives include process improvement and waste reduction. This individual will head all of the cost control initiatives, continuous improvement process and preventative maintenance programs. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with offset printing presses as well the ability to initiate and implement long term strategies geared toward operational excellence.   • Review and evaluate current offset printing process techniques and methods
  • Communicate effectively both within and outside of the pressroom to ensure all production requirements, schedules, quality, and final deliveries meet quality standards and deadlines
  • Conduct research to identify new methods and implement to reduce cost, waste, and improve quality
  • Manage all aspects of continuous improvement initiatives
  • Use of Color Management techniques to optimize printed products
  • Work with the Plant Engineer to identify, evaluate, and justify capital projects to ensure the pressroom remains competitive
  • Manage quality of supplies and consumables with vendors
  • Develop and implement an effective preventative maintenance program for the press room


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 8 years leading a lithographic printing department
  • A proven track record of process improvement, while reducing costs, and maintaining a high level of quality and safety
  • Ability to coach, mentor, train within a team environment 
  • Strong knowledge of sheetfed or web offset (heatset or coldset) printing. Goss experience preferred but Heidelberg, Harris, Hantscho, Man Roland, Komori, or Koenig & Bauer/KBA experience will be considered
  • Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma experience a plus
  • Computer literate and experience with Microsoft Office
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong color visual acuity, and color matching skills
