Our client, an established printing and packaging manufacturer, is seeking an experienced Print & Packaging Estimating and Purchasing Manager in New Jersey (onsite). This highly visible leadership role will oversee two critical areas of the business and directly influence pricing, profitability, supplier strategy, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead estimating and purchasing activities for pharmaceutical packaging and printed materials
  • Review job specifications and develop accurate, competitive manufacturing estimates
  • Determine the most efficient production methods while meeting quality and scheduling requirements
  • Maintain estimating standards, costing models, pricing structures, and production assumptions
  • Analyze historical job performance and material usage to improve estimating accuracy
  • Source paperboard, paper, labels, inks, coatings, adhesives, and related materials
  • Negotiate supplier pricing, terms, lead times, and service agreements
  • Evaluate suppliers based on quality, delivery, responsiveness, reliability, and cost
  • Identify alternative suppliers and materials to reduce costs and supply-chain risks
  • Collaborate with Sales, Customer Service, Production, Planning, and Quality

Essential Qualifications:

  • Five or more years of experience in print estimating, purchasing, procurement, or packaging manufacturing
  • Pharmaceutical secondary packaging experience, including folding cartons, package inserts or leaflets, and pressure-sensitive labels
  • Strong knowledge of printing processes, finishing operations, materials, and production workflows
  • Experience purchasing paper, paperboard, inks, coatings, adhesives, labels, and packaging substrates
  • Ability to interpret complex specifications and develop accurate, profitable estimates
  • Strong supplier negotiation and vendor-management skills
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication abilities
  • Experience with EFI Pace, EFI Radius, PACE, or a comparable printing MIS/ERP system
